Solar system recommendations
I am using around 900kwhs every 2 months and my bills are around $5000.00 pesos. Sounds like its time to go solar? I have one meter but could have three with my two rental casitas.

Your total bill would likely be a lot less if you had separate meters for each of the units as long as they all didn't end up in DAC.

Re: Solar system recommendations
imho, it's easier to go solar because it's very difficult to get multiple meters now.
Although I am very happy with my installation, I would not recommend dealing with a company out of Guadalajara. Stick to local people because it took FOREVER for me to get a problem with a faulty microinverter fixed,
Locally contact Nyah Walters with Opiere Solar. It was Nyah whom I called in desperation. He diagnosed the problem within 5 minutes and could have replaced the microinverter but suggested that I go after the company that installed it because it was still under warranty. That's class.

We got ours from STI Solar Technology in 2017 and very happy with it. Contact is Ron Magen, ron (at) solartechnology.com.mx
Get more than one estimate; we did and went with STI.

I second Ron @ STI. We recently had a problem (some other workman shut off the master fuze for the solar panels) and Ron had people here pronto; we also added a few more panels. They came on time and left on time, always cleaning up at the end of each day.

A third for Ron @ STI. He's working with me on a solar electric & water install. Excellent at analyzing my requirements and always responsive to my questions. He was referred to me by a pleased customer, and I've met another who has nothing but praise.

Re: Solar system recommendations
Some guy posted on another site, 400 watt panels, 6 of them including install like $3,000USD, seemed like a good price

Re: Solar system recommendations
400 watt panels would be top of the line right now. I would love to see the website that you are posting about Intercasa. Their location and what would be included in that price would be most enlightening. Where the panels are made is also important.

Whatever you do make sure you can add panels easily later on if you wish to.

Maybe not. Some folks have been refused meters unless the casita is on its own deed. Don't know this for a fact but do know in many areas CFE is refusing solar saying they don't have meters. Go to a solar place and give them your numbers (900KwH) and they can tell you how many panels you need to get down to 350 KwH and your bill would be 500P. So now figure saving 4500P for two months what your payback would be. Also remember much easier to sell a solar house. I sold my array to a landlord and made a profit off it and I didn't have to move it.

I have a house in CHiapas with 2 CFE meters and I just have a separate bedtoom but teverythngunder the dame roof and here we have 2 lots one with a swimming pool and one with the house. The pool is not on the solar and the house is, I have 2 meters.. so you never know what CFE will do. All you can do is ask. we would have to upgrade the system to put the pool on solar and since we do not use it we did not bother but it would be nice to simply add panels wthout having to upgrade the system.

Re: Solar system recommendations
In Dec 2019 I paid 110,000 pesos for 12 panels 405w each and 3 APSystems micro-invertors. At the end of 2020 the system had produced about 25% more power than we consumed. Only one glitch the first week when one microinvertor failed to connect. No problems since. My house has a 2 mini-split heat/cool units, a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, rec-circulating hot water pump, and a large fountain pump and a casita so color me happy. Company out of Guadalajara and very pleasant to deal with, fully bi-lingual if that is an issue. The investment will probably break even in two years. vida chibal is the company. I got a couple phone numbers somewhere for them if anyone wants, drop me a pm and I will search.

Re: Solar system recommendations
I put in a solar system the first year they were available lakeside. I believe it was 2006 or 7 but I am not sure. In those days the solar panels with the highest wattage available to me were not 405 watts per panel but only 170 watts per panel. Things were expensive in those days and my payback was between 7 and 8 years.
I felt good about getting a payback in 7 or 8 years. Gosh, things sure have changed for the better pricewise
