Covid testing at Soriana
I have never noticed the testing unit in the Soriana parking lot, so I wouldn't know if it's still there even. Do you know? I know it was open daily except Sunday, 8 to 4.

Yes, it is still there. Little white trailer in the far corner of the parking lot.

It's been reported that they no longer do PCR tests. I have to get back to Canada, and I've heard there is quite a price disparity among local clinics and labs for the PCR.

Re: Covid testing at Soriana
I phoned around. Some prices are ludicrous. I don't recall the airport price, but I think it was around $2,000, just over or under.
Best Labs: no PCR tests
Go Lab: $4,200
SAT Hospital: $6,800
Dilabim: No PCR tests
Clinica/Hospital Ajijic: no answer
Clinica el Lago, Chapala: $2,800 with plane reservation.
Guess where I'm going.

Re: Covid testing at Soriana
Just today talked to a fellow leaving for Canada tomorrow, Wednesday 8/4. He drove to GDL and paid $1,500 MX at the airport.... 2 months ago when we flew back to the States for a family emergency I have a picture on my phone of the airport sign and we paid $450 MX for the rapid antigen to fly home to US; and it showed $1,450 MX for the PCR test for Canada.
Importante.... he said 3 days ago when he went to GDL for his PCR test the wait in line was 3.5+ hours and people were missing flights (to the US). Two months ago we waited only 40 mins in line. Yikes! Plan for the worst with your timing.

Thanks. So call me stoopid, but I need to decide whether I want to spend 90 minutes travel time plus 3 hours or more waiting, or pop the extra 1400p and get it done in 30 minutes.
I once worked for a grouchy ex-officer at an engineering firm, writing user manuals for military vehicles. He ordered me one day to make a bunch of blueprint photocopies. I asked him, in my first act of open defiance of his belicosity, if he thought my salary was being spent wisely. As in, how important is my time to you? Can't believe it took him his whole career to figure out cost/benefit.

Re: Covid testing at Soriana
Clinica del Lago got me in first thing this morning, although no one answered the phone until after 9, while their stated hour is 7am. Set me an appt for 9:30, but there was a long line when I got there, and eventually I was the last one in just after 10. What an experience: one stick in each nostril, and one way down to the throat gag reflex. The poor kid administering the test is in a hospital suit with an oxygen mask, covered in disinfectant spray and hands practically dripping in disinfectant gel. The one down the throat had me coughing in his face. Sheesh.
Results in 24 hours, mas o menos. Prices of all places end in $800p, so we figure that's the cost of the kit to them, and whatever number is in front is profit.
I found the airport PCR price online: $1,450.

Re: Covid testing at Soriana
Went to Canada a month ago, came back yesterday. I could have gone to the airport in PV 2 days before my flight, but I was resigned to this trip costing me way more than usual, so bit the bullet and called a lab that sent 2 seriously suited up health workers to my home in tthe boonies of Sayulita, did the PCR test, then brought the results back out to me 24 hours later. 3600 pesos, which is an awful lot, but it was worth the convenience to me. And a friend who had done that 2 weeks earlier told me to stand up when they stick that swab up your nose because they don't stick it in as far as when you're sitting down.
Then another PCR test on arrival in Canada, and yet another you self-administer with an online call to a health agency on day 8 of the 14 day quarantine. They arrange for Purolator to pick it up where you are quarantining.
