RIP Slainte39
Our longtime member David Merryman passed away on Saturday. Our condolences to his family. He will be missed on this forum. RIP.
Re: RIP Slainte39
And everywhere. A long-standing pillar of business, became a Mexican citizen, still loved "his" Ireland, practically the whole family born here so all Mexican, started what is now Fenix Real Estate, compadre of Richard Tingin, and so many other notables and big families, knew everybody, and was the sweetest guy ever. The one guy that Mainecoons decided he should slug it out with. (I have a copy of messages sent between them a couple of years ago, showing just what an a-hole Dan actually is...)
He passed quickly with many of his family at his side. I was lucky enough to be introduced to him 20 years ago by people who knew him well. We have lost a jovial man and a good friend.

I think I may have met him but did not know who he was. Does anyone have a foto?

Slainte’s posts were hugely helpful to me as I planned my move here two years ago. A gifted writer and a compassionate soul. May his memory be a blessing to his family and his many devoted online friends.

Oh, wow. This makes me sad, but at least I was lucky enough to enjoy David via his messages here and elsewhere on the internet, and also, the handful of occasions I spent a little time with him in person. What a lovely and thoughtful human being. The world lost a big great heart this week.

Lake Chapala has lost a valued historian, gentleman and well read friend plus so much more that his passing will be of consequence. So rest in peace mi amigo, you certainly deserve it.
