Why all the ads?

Each thread is filled with ads for things like cars. What changed? How do I make it go away?

Not on my end. Something has managed to sneak into your browsers, I suspect. Clear the cookies and history for the last couple of days.

I usually pay to have the ads removed however there is a problem with the payment process right now.

I spoke too soon. I am gettng them now, too.

No Ads here using Chrome.

The only ads I see using Edge is the one under the banner at the top.

Edge has become better at blocking stuff. But I'm sure not switching to it.

I use Firefox with uBlock Origin. No ads here.

I see the icon for this site's bookmark changed to a Google "G" about two days ago. That means that a server somewhere is bypassing Bob's security software.

I will not change my browser and the specific benefits it provides just to block ads. And many ad blockers are notorious for overstepping. Once Bob has a chance to pay the service again, all will be well.

It's going to take a few days to get sorted. The problem is this forum only accepts payment via PayPal and Paypal has cancelled my Canadian account as they discovered I no longer live in Canada. That means I have to start a Mexican PayPal account which requires a Mexican credit card which I currently don't have. I'm going to get one today or tomorrow.

OK, I was able to use my BBVA debit card to get a Mexican PayPal account. I have gotten rid of the ads. Now I just need to fix the domain name.

This attitude makes no sense. And yet many US banks now have the same policy. I'm not sure from where the short-sightedness has arisen. Banking is banking. The most successful institutions are global.

Anyway, glad you nipped it in the bud. The ads are gone for me. And this gives me the opportunity to say THANKS for continuing to support your Webboard project. A great resource and a better alternative.

I just can't figure out how to get it redirected to my domain Insidelakeside. I may need your help.

Not something I have had to deal with directly, but I know my own Provider offers a number of tools to do so. I except yours does, too. But let me know.

I created a CNAME record with my domain name provider for lakechapalainfo.forumotion.net but forumotion keeps giving me an error that a CNAME hasn't been created when I try to link it to Insidelakeside.com. It could be that it takes a while to create the record?

Yeah, the call it propogation... has to spread through various servers. Same thing when you add/change/update an email with a Provider that you are paying.

I see the ads now when I am forced to log in, which I presume everyone will have to do, and then they are gone. I don't understand this LogIn window, though, that appeared many months ago that moves the LogIn button around like some kind of video game. Is this a security measure of which you are aware, to prevent bots? Annoying, if not.

Probably. I only pay to remove ads for members. If you're not logged in you will see the ads.
