Dr. Lastra R.I.P.

Just passed away in a Guadalajara Hospital of Covid.

I don't know about anyone else but he was my Doctor too. Good man and a good diagnostician. He will be missed, and remembered, by many.

So so sorry to hear this. A very kind and gentle man.

I had a bad case of E.coli during an extended house-hunting trip here in 2008. My realtor called Dr. Lastra. He came to our rental house and gave me shots, sent a nurse separately also.

We were moving to a different rental house that same day and didn't know its street address, just a description. Dr. Lastra said, don't worry I'll find it. And sure enough he was there that evening to give me another shot. When he was leaving we asked him what we owed...he said, pay me when you are better. Told us to come to his office in a week, which we did and also paid him.

It was hard to fathom (as newbies) that he made multiple house calls to complete strangers (who didn't even know their house number!) and trusted us to pay him later.

He worked himself to the bone and was always there, day or night, for any of his patients whether they were new or not. It was his calling in life and my hubby often said that Dr. Lastra reminded him of his own father's life as a Doctor.
So sad to lose such an asset to the community. My sincere condlences to Bette and his family.
