New name...same old me
My computer crashed and I couldn't remember my password..it's been so long since I've had to use it!! So shortened from Kipissippi to just Kip
I'm scaling down and trying to get rid of EXCESS everything. Are there any groups Lakeside that can use cleaning products, hotel tooth paste and shampoos, older but still serviceable linens and bedding...etc etc etc. I'm packing it all up so I can bring it with me when we come down. If it's not needed I'll give it to the Salvation Army... but I'd really like to help those who are the most in need, I would rather have the "room" than all the "stuff"!![Beer](/users/1615/22/11/56/smiles/411125.gif)

There are no poor people where you live in Mississipi? Get rid off it there and come down light and happy.

Welfare makes them very picky. I've bought the most gorgeous "high dollar" baby clothes for almost nothing...and they're like new....seems babies here don't wear hand me downs! Rather give to someone who actually needs it. How ya' doin'? Been a long time.

I checked the Mississippi Department of Human Service web site. What you call welfare they call TANF. Here’s what they said.
“The amount of the TANF payment is based on the family’s income. When the income does not meet the TANF Program Need Standard, the family may be approved for a monthly benefit up to the state maximum for that household size. Monthly payments in Mississippi are limited to no more than:
$200 for the first person
$36 for the second person
$24 for each additional person
Currently, the benefit for a family of three is $260. Benefits are issued through the Mississippi Debt MasterCard

So those on welfare are not rolling in money. Can’t imagine them buying new designer clothes for their kids who never, ever wear used clothes. Check your biases.

Clothing can be donated to domestic abuse shelters.
Hotel toiletries are welcome at most shelters, food banks and USO’s.
Your linens can be used by human and pet shelters.
The less these things travel the greener your donation.

Haven't really been gone..I check in often. My computer blew up and I got logged out and forgot my password! Would love to still use Kipissippi but haven't a clue how to manage that. Some things never change....I'm still tech challenged.

Thank you Gamina! That's the info I've been looking for. We've always come down with our car loaded to the MAX...but it's been a while and so many people I knew are either gone or passed on.
