There is a Flexi shoe store across from the plaza in Ajijic. I know they have quality men's sandals.

I got the impression that she was looking for locally MADE sandals. If not, then Mi Mexico (at the corner of Colon (Morelos at that point) and 16th de Septiembre) has a good selection. Even has what is colloquially called San Miguel Army Boots... which are made in San Miguel de Allende and come in various heel heights including flats.
