Where to get gluten free cookies or cake.

I checked with Marisa bakery and they didn’t seem to have gluten free products for desert or cookies. Where to get here ?

RJG Gluten Free.  We don't need to eat GF but his baked goods are stellar.  His empanadas have the flakiest crust and interesting fillings.  His carrot cake beats Costco's (most of what we see around town) hands down.

Unless you have celiac disease the use of gluten can actually make food taste better. Gluten is natural occurring in most grains and other food products. Some people are said to have gluten intolerance but otherwise I don't see the benefit of not eating products which contain gluten.

Trying to look for a gluten free desert for guest.

The little grocery just east of Panino's has gluten free bread & sweets from a Guad GF bakery. RJG products very good, but do you really want to spend $35 usd on a cake?  

And fyi.. oatmeal/coconut/almond flour - all gluten free. Mixed w butter, pressed into a pie pan, briefly toasted in oven, voilà, a wonderful crust.  Boil milk w a pudding mix, Can of whip cream, sprinkles - EZPZ. Crust also works great for quiche.  

Health comment re gluten vs GF:  Many 60+ people are pre-diabetic. It behooves us to watch our bread, pasta, cookies, other sweets so 'happy hour' liquid sugars don't push blood glucose too high, causing system-wide impact, including incidence of stroke.  Gluten free products don't tend to spike blood sugar levels like wheat based carb products.  

There have also been studies suggest allergic reactions to wheat aka gluten may be related to the Monsanto chemical glyphosate that is applied (fly by!) to wheat fields so wheat kernels are evenly dry, not green.. So by going GF, you might also reduce your chance of getting non-Hodgkin lymphoma (google IARC). So just saying, yes there could be health benefits for reducing wheat gluten.

fyi, when I shop at RFG I buy cake slices, individual cupcakes, individual cookies...no need to buy a whole cake or dozens of cookies.

We also buy his savory empanadas, flakiest crust ever! With the most interesting and delicious fillings. At 60p each, that's a cheap dinner, just add a side veg or salad, greens.

His empanadas freeze well, I thaw on counter then bake for a few minutes to maintain the flaky crust. Don't ruin them by blasting in microwave.

??? Wheat isn't "aka gluten". Wheat is a grain that contains gluten. Someone could be allergic to wheat without being allergic to gluten and vice versa. Also as you say, be allergic to chemicals used on crops, and if someone finds they feel better when they don't eat wheat breads, they could even be allergic to yeast, rather than gluten or wheat.

Very few people are actually gluten intolerant, even though it seems like half the population these days seems to claim they are. And it's pretty easy to find out for sure- there are gluten intolerance tests.

I would highly recommend a visit to Cloibri Bakery in Chapala near Greg's Auto Repair and LetraCH restaurant. Colibri Bakery is excellent with cakes, pies, cookies and some frozen prepared meals MANY with Gluten-free and Vegan options. They do take phone orders too.

Our neighbors and friends really enjoy the pies and cakes we get from there and they are NOT gluten sensitive.
