I've been hacked

Evidently by some a hole in Australia.  They've managed to change my email address so I can't get back on FB.  FB (maybe) is saying to send them proof of ID...like my passport.... which scares the shit out of me.

Anyone else ever had this happen?  Is there a phone number that makes it possible to talk to an actual person?  The email it wants to send my new info to.....isn't mine.. p**********k@hotmail.com....  Round and round

They keep offering to send me information.,....to the hacker's email.

This Murphy's Law crap is getting ridiculous.

Question: Why do people want Facebook? Lots of misleading information and downright junk there. (Okay, start hurling )

I'm a reluctant FB user.

Local gobierno announcements (emergency street closures, weekend events that English speaking outlets don't mention, local sports, etc.) are on FB.

Most restaurants list specials, hours, vacation closings on FB.

Lakeside FB groups post about recent crimes, power and internet outages, etc. rather quickly. I belong to 3 of them and they are all moderated by folks who don't allow posts about politics, religion and other crap.

You can create a FB account using a throwaway email address. Set privacy so no one can contact you via FB or ask to be a 'friend' or 'follower.'

Other than these sites I don't access FB.

Is there any essential information that is not carried on the two websites for this area?
Most restaurant's information is also found on Google, I've noticed.

Make sure to change your passwords ASAP for anything you do online, especially any financial stuff, in case the hacker can access more than Facebook.

Notices from local and state gobiernos, especially emergency ones.

Restaurant daily specials, vacation schedules, last minute closings due to other issues. Current hours (google stuff is often out of date).

Crimes, often petty but gives people a heads up on what's going on and where (purse snatchings on a certain street, break-ins). Yes Bob allows Crime posts but it is usually things that already made it to the Reporter.

If you don't like FB, don't use it. But it CAN be used safely.

And I hope you remember this the next time you ask (as you have in past) something about XYZ restaurant because they are only on FB and you need more info.

My restaurant choices these days are limited to ones that are easy for me to get into!

I have never seen or heard of anyone being "hacked" on FB. Hacked means that someone guessed your password and is in your actual account. Every single case I am aware of is a "cloning" situation whereas someone creates an identical account using your name and your picture(s), but a different email address as the same one cannot be used twice on FB. They then send out friend requests to people that are already your friends in hope that they accept their request thus allowing them to see your personal information and then perpetuate the cloning.

I use facebook because it is a way to be informed. THe government usees facebook a lot, Imprtant information on concursos, programs and a lot of other things can be easily access via facebook and saves a lot of times. I do not care for face book but I use it. It is a good way to be aware of what goes on.

A lot of times I know what's going on in Australia, GB, California, Florida NY etc etc.... before the News ever does.... because a face book friend is standing there watching it happen.

This bastard didn't just clone me.... he locked me out of my Email and Facebook,.

I use FB sparingly in the same fashion. I prefer to use FB than have them use me!
