El Alebrije De Ajijic

After my initial visit, El Alebrije de Ajijic has moved into my top 5 eateries based on its molé.  It is as good as it gets outside of Oaxaca.

Fall off the bone tender chicken, a substantial leg and meaty thigh.  Not at all stingy with the perfectly balanced molé sauce.  Comes with rice and piping hot tortillas.  169p  They have a good selection of MXN beers; my Tecate was 40p.

Cute place, very clean.  From the street it looks a bit drab and dark inside, but is quite comfortable in this warm weather (and they had a few floor fans running).  Friendly service, kitchen is open at the back.  

Their breakfast menu has huevos divorciados....a fave of mine I don't see too often here.  

I got there at 12:30 and was told I could order off of breakfast or lunch menu.  

They are on Traitte.  

Hours are:  Mon. Tues, Thurs, Fri. from 9am to 6pm
                 Sat. and Sun, from 9am to 7:30pm  
                  Closed Wednesdays

They are on southside of Ocampo just a few doors west of Colón.  Fyi, Alebrijes are those artistic wooden hand-carved fanciful animals.
