Plus, he's right.
However, there are more reasons than the ones named why business is down. That recession going on in the U.S. spreads its shadow over Mexico.
The demographics of gringolandia indicate that more houses will be vacated by the deaths of the WWII generation and won't be filled by the "Silent Generation" ,born in much fewer numbers in the Great Depression. Baby boomers in the U.S. can't sell their upside downed homes in order to move here. And so on...........
Everybody luvs drugs. The buyers, the sellers and everyone in between, so like Fred says, the beat will go on.

Fred lives near Joco and is a pretty entertaining writer. Play around on his website and a) you'll learn who he is, and b) be entertained by his insight and candor.

Having read Fred numerous times in the past, he uses the same ambiguities and vague statements normally attributed to NOB journalists to make his point. One such example: "Already, we hear, the cruise ships have stopped going to Puerto Vallarta." If he had used some instead of the - a reader wouldn't have a tendency to interpret the as meaning all. Certainly Princess Cruises has pulled out but there are still cruise ships docking in Puerto Vallarta.

Re: This is sure telling it like it is
fred writes for the "occidental review" you can read it online. the editor is author/professor kevin mac donald. i like him & agree w/some of the white nationalist ideas. BUT, there are nazi/hitler sympathizers on the "occidental" forum (the regulars). so much in your face, that some of the posters stopped commenting. the review has some great articles, & even some excerpts from jewish magazines. either the posts are not edited, OR nazi ideas are in back of the intellectual facade. that is how i found fred last year. saw his bio, & was surprised he retired in joco. in any event, his article about mexico is a bit dramatic. (even for me). i read only one of his pieces for the O review, & do not know how often he contributes to the magazine.

A good read none the less. He has a great way of illustrating what most of us already know......it's time to dig out that ostrich.

I agree. I think his exodus is somewhat exaggerated but the basic points he makes are spot on. Plus, it is an entertaining read, don't you think?

If you go to Fred's website you can find his older stuff he wrote during
Viet Nam and such. While I don't agree with him sometimes I always
find him entertaining. He wrote much police blotter stuff also.

Re: This is sure telling it like it is
The author of this article is correct in what he writes. The drug war in Mexico is being encouraged by the US. When we lived in Mexico previously the US wanted Calderon to accept weapons and soldiers to help fight the cartels. It was also a time when a large plane made an emergency landing in the Yucatan jungle and it was loaded with cocaine (full to the brim). The Mexican officials tracked the tail number and low and behold it belonged to the CIA out of an airport in southwestern Florida (the same airport in which many of the so-called 9-11 hijackers received their flight training and is a well-known CIA owned airport). The US demanded the plane to be returned to them and the Mexican government, to their credit, refused. The "war on drugs" is about as effective as the "war on cancer", or the "war in Iraq" or the war in Afghanistan...all failures. The US has stationed their drones in Mexico and have troops and mercenaries stationed in Mexico fighting the cartels. On the other hand the US customs, border patrol agents, cops, and other unsavory characters are taking bribes as quickly as they can stuff it in their pockets to let the drugs through. It is all corrupt. It is as disgusting as it can get.
What all this means is that the citizens and visitors to Mexico are facing difficult times. Snow birds are fed a daily dose of how bad it is in Mexico, so they choose to stay home or go elsewhere, the stores and restaurants close due to a lack of business, those who bought in Mexico can't sell their property and many have lost what was their nest egg.
Bottom line is the US does nothing out of the goodness of their heart with any country. They always stack the cards in their favor and they are tight strings attached to whatever help is provided.
Mexico would be wise to understand this and the people of lakeside should make a determined effort to save their towns and lifestyles. If you decide to wait around and wait for the snow birds and the sun birds to come along and save your way of life, I'm afraid it will be too late.
The US is not interested in "winning the war" on drugs. If they were they'd be supporting rehab centers and finding ways to get people off drugs and into jobs. The US is not interested in Ajijic or Chapala . The US is not interested in stopping the drug cartels, there are too many people making billions of dollars off the trade. The US just wanted to send weaponry and soldiers to Mexico to have the country in their web so they could control the trade and Calderon fell for it.
Mexico and the people of Lakeside have a decision to make. Either take control of your surroundings, or suffer the consequences.
