Just found this on TOB - am concerned about my friends in Chapala Haciendas:

There was an attempted robbery today in Chapala Haciendas. It was around 1pm. The casita sits way back from the house on the vacant street. Someone was in or trying when the owner came upon him. The robber sprayed the owner with pepper spray or mace then hit him on the head. I think the robber then ran. It took the police 40min. to get here. The homeowner was bloodied but not hurt badly. They did go to the clinic and came back an hour later.

So much for the meeting with the Chapala police.
