Breast CancerOver diagnosis Reampant
It seems women, especially American women have been lied to by Medical Doctors. Many women are being encourage to go through expensive, and unnecessary testing procedures for breast cancer , some even having unnecessary surgery to remove healthy breast. It's time for women to begin questioning their MD when "experimental" testing is recommended by their doctors. I wonder how many women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer ( and there are more than a few of em )
and the cancer survivors could agree with any of that?
A good friend, who had a double mastectomy, lost her mother to breast cancer...
after initial tests, she said " lopp em off " before any follow-up exams...
said " she would rather be alive "
Perhaps one should ponder... " what's cheaper... the tests? ... or just dying?"

Re: Breast CancerOver diagnosis Reampant
on another note.... in Saskatchewan... where government picks up most the medical bills.... the powers that be decided testing proceedures were cheaper in the long run, than to pay for a bunch of sick assholes...
so... they began a public testing campaign...
breast cancer tests... prostrate exams... & colon rectal exams ( my favorite )
now... either they found some benefit to this .... or they got a real good deal on those rectal camera thingies!!

Hocks, a very good friend of mine is currently undergoing massive chemo and radiation, which is rarely very successful.
Years ago another friend, an M.D., had screening done in Toronto, they gave her an all clear. She immediately went to the Mayo clinic, was properly diagnosed and a treatment plan given. Upon her return to Toronto, the cancer hospital refused to follow the protocols set out by the Mayo, so she grabbed her records, told them where to stick it and returned to the Mayo for treatment which was far less aggressive. She's still fine today.

Another point of view:
'False positive' mammogram results tied to higher cancer risk:
"Women who have received a “false positive” on a mammogram may have new cause for worry, according to a study released Thursday.
A false positive occurs when a radiologist detects an abnormality in a mammogram – that is, there is some apparent growth that is checked out, usually with a needle biopsy -- but it is determined there is no cancer. The research from the University of Copenhagen found that women who have been given additional testing because of a false positive run a 67 percent greater risk of a breast cancer diagnosis in the future. Experts say the result from the records of 58,000 women in Denmark is not cause for alarm. But it is a warning for those who have gotten a false positive to be more vigilant..........

Re: Breast CancerOver diagnosis Reampant
Another problem with mammograms is the amount of pressure used. Encapsulated cancers can rupture and spread the cancer anywhere in the body.
