Rats and dogs Empty Rats and dogs

Post by Chico Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:11 pm

Apparently I have two of each. I knew about the dogs, but the gardener told me about the rats today, when he saw them. I have an extremely small yard and do not want my dogs to be collateral damage, but do not know how to go after the rats and keep the dogs safe. Any ideas? Thanks, chico.

Traps, not poison.

You have seen my dogs. One looks like a giant rat and could easily fit herself in a trap for bait. and if there was a morsel of anything edible inside the trap, she would get to it.

Maybe give them names and treat them like pets?

What if you take the dogs somewhere for an overnight trip and leave a few baited traps in the yard just while you're gone? Might come back in the morning to find the problem solved.

Terry:

Once again with your old concocted stories! From May 6, 2011 on MexConnect:
http://www.mexconnect.com/cgi-bin/forums/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=163517;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;

"Rats
I have been here for six years. I have a rat infestation on my property. I see them daily and they are out in full force at night. Never have dealt with rats before. I am told there is a pellet that can be bought that they think is candy. They eat it and die. Anybody have any suggestions? To compound matters, I have a dog that spends much of her time outside. Thank you, T. "

Pretty damned lame using an old story to gather attention!

Nothing wrong with discussing the topic again for others to possibly learn something. No?

Thanks, Axixic. That is a thought. Think I might even have a neighbor or two that might let them camp overnight with them. I will call wildlife rescue and see if they have some traps available for my purposes. BTW I enjoy the hell out of your posts. They are both funny and helpful. Keep on postin' Looking forward to your La Floresta arrival in August. Please ignore the negative posts and concentrate on the positive. Some people just seem to be unhappy and want to pass their unhappiness to others. Do not fall into their trap. Have a great day. chico

Thank you, you are very kind.

Regarding the traps - would ones obtained from wildlife rescue be 'live" traps? If so, I admire the sentiment but wonder about the practicality of having to "relocate" the critters. What I know about rats could be written on the head of a pin. But, even though it seems cruel, I think I would prefer to kill them if it were my yard.

4: Sling Shot

Method works equally well with...

I especially like the last one of the second grouping...BUT aren't the first five words synonymous with the last??
