What is a bot?

Everytime I log in and check to see who is on line, there are always two bots. Not one, not three, but two. always. Anybody have a clue? chico

They are search engine bots that direct people to the forum.......

Here is an example: I Googled: Boveda Ceiling Cost
Result: https://www.google.com/search?hl=&q=boveda+ceiling+cost&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGGL_enUS349US349&ie=UTF-8
Note the first result is this forum: https://www.insidelakeside.com/t4167-boveda-ceiling-cost

And that folks is what the bots accomplish and the reason why what you say on the Internet is by no means lost in the traffic!

Short for 'robot' but not the r2d2 kind. They are out searching the Internet for content

They are little things peeking over your shoulder. Always. Usually with the hope of either (a) selling you something and/or ((b)catching you at something ....like looking at cute little five year olds or plotting the next bombing event.

Long before ro-bots there was the bot fly.

A nasty little parasite.
Lays its eggs under the skin of its host where they hatch into larvae that grow under the skin... they then eat their way out, pupate, and begin the cycle all over again.
Most commonly they prey on horses and cattle, but there is one species that prefers to make its home in humans. Just FYI Lizzy

One of my cats had one, had to trap him since he was fairly wild. Got the tweezers out and plucked it out. That was gross. He healed right up .
