Yesterday I installed Android 4.1.1 on my Samsung Nexus S smartphone. Android 4.1.1 or Jelly Bean as Google calls it is the latest operating system for Android. To be honest, the installation did not go smoothly due mistakes that I made. But after several hours of hard work it is now functioning. I am still learning about this operating system and tweaking it.

I had no problems with the earlier operating system, ice cream sandwich but this new operating system seems even smoother and faster. The new feature, Google Now, is pretty awesome. Here is a link to an article about Google Now.

Thanks for the link to a very good article. Since I'm just a shade better than a Luddite, I really have mixed feelings at the expanse and speed of the technology. WOW. The Google stuff strikes me as a fantastic advance. Then my "Privacy" thoughts kick in and I"m a bit concerned about unintended consequences on how the info is, or could be, used. Your thoughts, Please.

I agree. This information could be used to create some kind of 1984 scenario. But if you're leading a clean life I don't think of people would be too interested in using resources to track you.

Damn, that's disappointing. Oh well perhaps that's for the best.
My wife and I want to upgrade our cell phones, Internet access, email and calendar are the only considerations at this point. We're on Verizon and most likely to stay with them. Do you or any other forum members have a suggestion for us?

If I were buying a new cellphone I think I would probably buy a Samsung Galaxy S III. But a problem with that is I understand that they cost 799 dollars for a unlocked phone with no contract. I read that they have shipped something like 10,000,000 phones in the first week they went on sale. I have seen them advertised on this Sky in Mexico but I don't know when they will be available.

I have sold my soul to "Google". I have no regrets. They have not come for me. YET.
