OK.... maybe a recipe is asking a lot....
anytime I added sqeezed limes and sugar to water.... it always had a bitterness....
is there a way to get rid of the bitterness?

The perfect summer drink is "the Moscow Mule"
3 parts ginger beer
1 part vodka
Twist of lime

Try using liquid jarabe (simple sugar syrup with recipes on-line) instead of sugar. Or for we lazy folks, it is available at Paz liquor, and I'm sure lots of other places. I think it is about 30 pesos a bottle, but it's been a while since I bought some. Mix lime juice with water and jarabe for desired strength and sweetness.

Re: Limonade
I think I stole this from Bubba/Dawg sometime down the road:
You need a heat resistant big old pitcher
Take a whole bunch of limes squeezing the juice into the pitcher and throwing all of the limes into the pitcher as well.
Put in sugar or Splenda to taste
Pour boiling water over this mix
Cool and drink as is or with rum

Re: Limonade
The bitterness may be due to the limes you're using. Some kind person told us 17 years ago to only buy the very small limes. Surprisingly, they contain more juice than the larger variety. Prove it to yourself.
And, I hate to admit this, we were using the hand juicer incorrectly...the cut side of the lime goes over the holes. Then squeeze.

But, I have two Big Lime Trees.... every morning... I go out into the yard and there is usually 10 - 15 Limes on the ground....
Man, those trees produce... they always have Limes in various stages.... from blossoms, tiny, mid-sized, large & on the ground.
I just need to get em into the glass

Re: Limonade
Do you know what kind of lime tree it is?
Do a taste test...splurge and buy two limes at the store...taste test a small store lime, a large store lime and a few of different sizes from your tree. It might be an interesting experiment.

Mango (don't confuse with the awful orange both are same color bottle)
is good also. I wish they had not have switched from Splenda to Nutrasweet.

Re: Limonade
Moscow Mule sounds delicious, and I'm a big ginger beer fan. Where do you get it Lakeside? I like the ginger beer, not ginger ale.
