Lety's???

My husband drove by there this morning: cops out in front and equipment being loaded on trucks.
Anybody know what's going on there? We'd all miss the shrimp.

Drove by there a couple of minutes ago and the place looked completely dismantled. very strange

Quite the operation. They took everything. Including the building.

I saw one truck full of kitchen equipment turn down into San Antonio, so maybe they're re-locating.

There is quite a story behind this.

Hahahaha, Rosa! You kill me. The reality is, you coulda moved that building in a Volkswagen.

They may have moved it or may be storing it on Paz property in SA.

Rumor on TOB is that they will be relocating to a new place south and East of where they were. Okay: pure, unsubstantiated guessing time: The garage at Hole in One, since they own a parking lot very close by. After all, the hookups are already there.

As long as we don't lose the shrimp burgers.

I'll go cruising around and see what I can find out.

I saw a big gate open the other day on Ramon Corona just east of town and inside was a big empty, cleared lot. On the gates it said Hole In One. . .

Well... I heard from an impeccable source (the receptionist at the Integrity clinic) that Lety's was on federal land and screwing up the drainage for the arroyo on the property, and they had to go. What I though odd was all the police being there for most of the day.

That will be part of the story, but I think there will be more.

Pretty weird.

I went by the lot with the big green doors that said Hole in One and it has been freshly painted black. No wording anymore. Also looked like Chino's truck in front.

Okay will try to be somewhat discreet here, but here's more info courtesy of our maid, whose son worked at Lety's, knows all of the people involed, and has lived in San Antonio all of her life.

Lety's has been "squatting" on that arroyo land for three decades, paying the right people in Chapala to make it okay. Change in administration in Chapala = no longer okay (unclear whether it wasn't enough mordida, going to the wrong people now, etc). There's more of course, including excess boozing and family dynamics, but apparently that's the gist of it. They will almost certainly reopen somewhere, but meanwhile the many who worked there are SOL and of course no shrimg burgers in their inimitable carretrera ambiance until they resurface.

It's just so handy for a new administration to have all those extra laws lying about, so they can just pick the ones they want to enforce.

If/when Lety's resurfaces (even as a taco stand), it sounds like there are plenty of votes for a swarm to go there.

SuperLake is run by a son of Chino's (the owner of Lety's)....Francisco Montes, aka Pancho, brother of Lety. I guess by logic, the same would apply to him, even tho' it's not the same menu.

This is not all about the government picking laws to enforce. There were several other factors that brought all this about and driving the results.

I don't know where you are getting your information but......

Mariscos Peter hasn't any connection to Chino, Lety (who BTW, has been in the US for some time), and this Montes/Paz family.

Nothing to do with "new administration" as this is a fight that has been going on for years over the rights to the Federal Zone between the occupiers (Lety's), and the adjacent negocio, Carta Blanca. The final decision was made in Mexico City, and the orders for removal came from there. This has been in legal limbo for at least a dozen years.
