Eliminating white flies

I have 2 new basil plants and the white flies love them too much. I have tried the only pesticide available at Home Depot but they just laugh at me. Do any of you gardeners have a suggestion to get rid of the little buggers?

I am having success growing marigolds with all of my verduras. I have basil growing next to a citronella bush and so far no white flies there either. In the past I have also bathed the underside of plant leaves with a dilute mixture of neem oil and insecticidal soap (from the garden shop in Riberas) which was effective in removing eggs which is essential to white fly control once they have gained the upperhand.

Thanks for the suggestion. Where in Riberas is the garden shop, I'm sorry to say I don't recall seeing one but will seek it out if I can find it.

I make my own insecticidal soap - 40 parts water, 1 part liquid dishwashing soap, 1 part isopropal (rubbing) alcohol.

Spray all leaves (undersides especially) and stems. Repeat spaying two or three times to catch hatchlings and survivors.

Nest door east of the 7-11, lake side of the carretera in Riberas. Good people, will try and get you anything you need.
