From an e-mail by Marianne Carlson: Jeanne Chaussee died this morning of a heart attack at Cruz Roja. She went to Cruz Roja because she had terrible pain in her hip.

I called her daughter, Libby, who is OK and trying to deal with all the details.

Jeanne was a huge part of our community and will be missed. She was a good friend to the Feria over the years.

What a terrible loss to the community. Jeanne Chausee was an inspiration to all of us grumpy little old ladies. She will be very much missed. Condolences to Libby and her family.

So sorry to hear this. Jeanne was an institution here in Lakeside and will be missed greatly. I have read that women especially can have pains in other areas of their bodies when they are having a heart attack. A wake up call for all of us.

Wow what a shock, RIP.

I haven't seen her since we brought down an SUV load of heavy bedding and winter jackets for Libby to take to the Copper Canyon. She was heavy set but seemed healthy. Of course heart attacks can happen to any of us at any age and any weight. Still comes as a shock.

She'll be missed.

A memorial is set for June 22. Time and location have not been made. Thoughts and prays go out for Libby.

Jeanne was a dear friend. She was an excellent writer, much better than sometimes can be revealed in the limited space available in her column. And she was an interesting person. I've spoken with Libby and offered her any support she needs.

I am so sorry to hear this and will miss her immensely. She was one of the original characters of this area - another chapter closes. sigh

Descanse en paz, Jeanne, you had a tremendous impact on our community at Lake Chapala.

This is shocking and very sad news. My condolences go out to Libby and the rest of the family. Jeanne was a great asset to the community and will be greatly missed. Her column was one of the reasons I bought the paper, I loved reading the first few paragraphs, her grousing about the rude drivers, etc. Rest in Peace.

Thanks Chula, condolence message sent. Jeannie was very good to Kar and I over the years...with the galleries, etc. She will be missed.
