Process for sale of car

I have a buyer for my Jalisco plated car. Do we need to go to the transito office here in Chapala to transfer title...or what?

Also, do you recommend going together to the bank to deposit the cash...because I want to make sure its not funny money and I don't want all that cash on me.

Lastly, I need help removing some CDs that are stuck in the player/changer.

The transfer of title isn't done at Tránsito, it's done at the Recaudadora. Go there beforehand and they'll give you a list of what papers (with copies) you'll need to bring with you to do it. After you've deposited the money in the bank, you and the buyer can go over there and shuffle the papers with them. The most important piece of paper is the car's original Factura (plus the other usual government office stuff….I.D., Visa, comprobante de domicile, maybe passport, etc.) As the seller, you basically sign over rights to the car to the buyer on the back of the Factura, and they have to provide the paperwork to get it into their name.

When you go to the Recaudadora, don't wait in line to get up to the counter. Go straight to the back and talk to the (probably woman) person at the desk. She's the one who will tell you what you need to bring, and when you come back with it, she'll check that you have everything, then send you to the line to pay.
