PV - Guad Hwy

The new hwy has received final approval cutting travel time to 2 1/2 hours. Will follow the present hwy. 4 lanes all the way. Construction expected to start 2012. WOW. I don't know whether to laugh or celebrate. Here's hoping.

Wasn´t it already built with some isssue where it connects at the Jalisco - Nayarit border?

Don't know. Got this off my Jaltemba Sol email. It was in their Mexican news section and was a link to a report of an official news release. The issue was the buildup through a nature preserve.

I heard they started from both ends, when only a few hundred yards away from each other found that they were not only a few hundred yards away from each other front to front but side to side, then environmentalists lodged complaints. Rumor in Vallarta is that politicians who own business on the current road are fighting it as they will lose much in the form of revenue as nobody will travel the old route.

Hopefully the new construction is the last leg!

WOW. Your comment does not surprise me. Glad they didn't build the "Chunnel". However, when they were about a kilometre away from each other, don't you think someone would have sobered up and said "What the freak, we are not going to consumate this relationship." That being said, supposedly the new road is simply layered on the old. I think the politicos with interests are pissed cause there bizzes will have restricted access to the new hwy. You know, cloverleafs and stuff. If you're not near one, your biz is toast. That being said, would anyone with real info please step up to the plate. Thx.

My info is from a manager of a real estate company in PV (personal friend), we chatted at length in November, she is from Nayarit and lived last 20 years in PV. I can't wait for the new highway!
