That's a LOT of hail. Hope it didn't damage any crops or gardens.

People ...lighten up! I come from the land of snow and ice and I do know that this is not snow, but the aftereffects do look very similar...

Definitely hail, some homes were damaged because of the accumulation of depth, and the usual loss of trees, mostly on the east side, Tlaquepaque area.

The storm dumped 5-6 feet of ice.  It covered cars and damaged homes.

Actually, the storm dropped sleet and hail over a wider area, along with rain. The running water carried all olf the accumulated ice to the lower lying areas. The water then drained away, leaving the concentration of ice in the lower areas.
In some of the photos, you can see traffic moving normally, on unaffected higher streets, just meters away.

It made the German TV news, big time, resulting in panicky calls from my sister, who could not not though on the phone because Mega cable was out, I got her email and those from friends over the Telmex line, called back and told everybody no problems. And got a thank you from hubby for insisting on two internet/ phone connections!

The hail was apparently very small in size and, yes, in some of the photos it had the appearance of corn snow. I'm an ex-skier too so I understood your comparison immediately. Spring skiing nearly always took place on corn snow.

I can tell you that in some part the hal looked nothing like snow. I have friends who have a store in Tlaquepaque and they live on the second floot. he hous was fullof hail on both floor. The hail was coming through the drain n the shower and the toilets and promptly covered the whole place inside..It was unreal.. I wish I would know how to post videos..
