Most stolen vehicle brands in Mexico 2018-2019

The most stolen vehicle model in Mexico from July 2018 to June 2019 was the Nissan NP300/Pick-Up with 5,260 cases reported. The Nissan Tsuru ranked second with 5,260 cases reported during that period of time, followed by the Nissan Versa with 3,864 thefts reported.

That tells me Nissans are easy to steal for whatever reason. Plus with the number of them running around the parts would be in demand.

You may have it the other way round...parts would be in demand, therefore thief would be higher for Nissans.

The insurance on my 2004 Nissan Tsuru is more expensive than my 2011 Acura MDX. Go figure.

A steering wheel lock will save your door or window though because they always choose low hanging fruit and will move on once they see the lock. You can start the Nissan with a one peso coin, no need for a key. The theft trick is to pop off the plastic automatic transmission gear shift cover on the console and install a 50 peso electrical toggle switch to disable the fuel pump. Works like a charm.

There is a taller in San Luis Soyatlan that specializes in Tsurus, they can chop one in 2 hours.

Must only be stealing recent models because they haven't touched my 2007 Nissan Tiida. I keep leaving it on the street and hoping but no luck so far.

No not all Nissan are easy target. Many have elaborate theft control systems. I still put the club on mine as it is parked on the street. Tsuru's are basically 1992 Nissan sentras in US/Can. A Tilda is a much more modern car.

I was surprised to see Tsuru on the list. Must be all those taxi drivers needing new hoods and bumpers.

Tsuru, 0 out of 5 stars safety rating. No air bags. No freon in A/C system, they use propane instead. If you are an advocate of Euthanasia, look no further.

Euthanized and cremated and sealed in a steel urn all in one crash.
