Mask requirement

Does the requirement to wear a mask when you are out in public start tomorrow? Some places already require you to wear a mask to enter. Any suggestions on where to find masks?

Walmart currently has a protocol in place ..no mask no entry...But a employee is making them for free!!!
I am amazed at the number of both locals and foreign s who expect to enter the store with no mask

There are many ways to make your own mask. Ask Mr.Google!!

They got 'em all over the place. It's called a "cubreboca" (mouth cover) in Spanish. I'm using a bandana tied like a stagecoach robber. It's easy to wash and reuse. Any scarf or piece of cloth will do. The purpose of the mask is to keep your spit and drool and snot from spreading the disease. Remember, you can be asymptomatic and still be a carrier of the virus. You would need an N95 respirator mask like health-care professionals use in order to filter the microscopic virus from the air...and they are in short supply.

Just wanted to add, if you are having a hard time finding N95, then HEPA is an even better choice. N95 stops 95% of microbes, dusts, etc., while HEPA stops 99.7%.

Those masks should only be sold for frontline workers. A dust mask, surgical mask or bandana is fine for us bystanders....!!

It depends on the type of mask. I have some meant only to protect against dust, and others that are anti virus but of lower quality of the type needed to protect against covid 19 or the corona virus or whatever they call it.

My Doctor and his son came by the house today and all three of us were wearing masks. Their masks looked to be of higher quality than mine.

No they were not there to provide me medical aid. They did have some great hand sanitizers though.

Friend told me she was stopped by officials and told starting April 20 mask is required at all times when out. Even in your car.

If you have a vac with a hepa filter or a 3M Filtete 1900 furnace filter, you can use that along with the mask for YOUR protection. Of course, you have to deconstruct the furnace filter but the remaining material is the same as is used to make the N95 masks. See how to do it here:

Those furnace filters have flown off the shelves here in the states. I was lucky in that I bought a years supply from Sam's before this Covid thing hit.

I bought 50 masks a couple of weeks ago to give out. They are made of the material used to wrap surgical instruments when sterilized. Same material as used for surgical drapes, called campos in Mexico. They don't allow moisture to go through.

Mandatory April 20 mask at all times even when you’re driving your car. I got an email from our property manager today who is Mexican that said if you do not have on a mask you can spend 36 hours in jail.

Looking out the kitchen window this morning, all but one of my neighbors were UNmasked. The masked one was driving a car.

Was out cleaning the cochera and in front this morning.

My neighbors teen daughter walked by coming from the abarrote, unmasked, and I said - you need a mask! She said: Si! I said - if you want to live! She said - Si!

A few other neighbors passed my house all unmasked. For some reason the Chapala Bus came down my street - driver unmasked, maybe a dozen passengers, saw 2 masked.

Izzi has arrived to do work on a pole by my cochera. Unmasked.

I think Mexicans believe they are untouchable. And they'll be right, until the first neighbor or family member succumbs. Then it will be too late.

Well at least they aren't protesting to the same extent as those idiots up north.

It just went mandatory today. The word should get out. My gardener saw it on the Mx news.

Yes our gardeners have been wearing mask for three weeks the whole time they are working. I WhatsApp my Gardener this morning to let him know about the mandatory mask wearing and he said yes he had seen it on the Mexican news.

Yesterday's news showed Mexican senate proceedings -- many senators had masks, many did not, and many were not distanced. One senator was arguing a point, no mask, mouth wide open spewing vapour. Curiously, in the nightly broadcasts of the virus updates, I do not see any cubrebocas either. Not a good example to follow.

I sat in my doorway for one hour this morning with face mask on, 41 people went past only two had face masks on...
