I'm a little late seeing this but I am also shocked! My sympathies and condolences go out to his family, and to all of us who knew Mike. Big loss.

It depends on the circumstances. I've had people urge me to go to the doctor, get tested for this and that, but I dislike doctors and hospitals in general, and the things that were bothering me resolved on their own. I have very seldom had a doctor be able to help me with anything, but have wasted a lot of time going to see them.

My grandfather, although a very lively guy, wasn't in the best of health. He was a diabetic who had to shoot himself up with insulin every day, and had a bad heart. He had had a couple minor heart attacks, and had a big one at the age of 65. He knew he was dying, hated hospitals and begged the family not to transport him to the hospital- he just wanted to die at home in his own bed. They disrespected his wishes, called the ambulance, and he died 2 hours later, plugged into a bunch of machines- exactly what he didn't want.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, Mudgirl, but what you're talking about isn't good advice for everyone. I hate hospitals, going to doctors, etc. It's a claustrophobic nightmare. However, there are times when it's needed, and it sounds like Mike might have still been with us if he had heeded Cynthia's advice.

I am now past the shock and am a little pissed with Mike. Stubborn man. Coulda, shoulda, woulda.
I also hate Doctors and hospitals but there are times when they are needed and serve the purpose.

I made a donation of 1700 pesos in my brother's name to Lakeside Friends Of The Animals A.C. I encourage animal/pet lovers to do the same, in some amount. Not only did Mike donate to them on a regular basis, he also adapted two cats from this shelter, Winston and Spunky. Winston unfortunately ran away, maybe found a forever home he liked. Mike then found Patches. Both Patches and Spunky are alive and well and living their best life at Mike's partner's house.
