ATM machines Empty ATM machines

Post by sturdley Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:07 am

I noticed that the ATM machines at HSBC have been inoperative for some time. Do you suppose it might be permanent? I liked using it because I could withdraw 14,000 pesos at a time. Some of the other machines have a much smaller limit.
I was wondering what other machines in the area would have larger withdrawal limits.

I got money out of the HSBC opposite Walmart last Monday. Both machines were operable. They are my go to for convenience of parking and not spitting out only 500 peso bills. They do run out of money though, on occasion. Then I head for the Multiva machines. Both of those banks charge more for withdrawals but I consider them safer. CI Banco has the cheapest rate and, for that reason, they are frequently out of money. I will not use any machine that isn't attached physically to a bank.

Now that's funny because my account manager at Intercam told me flatly that I couldn't use their access card to get more than 8,000 pesos from their ATM's. Period. Anyway, the other ATM's that I mentioned will allow two or three transactions at a time using the same card. You just pay the transaction fee every time. Ni modo. It's easier and faster than waiting in line inside any of the banks. Intercam is the farthest away from my house anyway.

In many cases (like mine) it is your home bank which sets the limit on how much you can withdraw "daily" from an ATM. My limit is $1000 CAD per day and/or $3000 CAD weekly. I have yet to encounter a machine that doesn't let me draw this amount unless it is running out of money. Of course some of the machines may limit the amount that you can withdraw in a "single" transaction because it may jam up the machine. I learned this lesson when I tried to withdraw $14,000 in a single transaction from the Scotia machine many years ago. It did indeed jam the machine........lol.
