Unaccompanied minor - Customs

Well today there apparently are enforcing a new rule. Minors who are unaccompanied are not allowed to press the button for red light / green light. Instead they must exit and then find their parent / guardian and enter to the left off the sliding exit doors, go through a screening, leave an ID and then go back to the luggage, sign the customs declaration and then the adult presses the button leading to a search or exit, then you exit, go right, pick up your ID and are done.

This wasn't being enforced but now is so plan on delay and bring your ID. My son is 17. Never asked for note from mom but we had to do this dance this morning at 7am.

They say they are not allowed to search minors.
