Mexico City hotel recommendation

I want to go to Mexico City to see the Alebrije Parade on October 19th.  The parade route goes from the Zócalo down Paseo de la Reforma.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a moderately priced hotel somewhere near the parade route?

Casa Gonzalez behind the British Embassy, 2 blocks from Reforma, nice area.

I have not stayed there before, but I'm looking at the Hotel Isabel for the next time I go. Not on the route, but certainly near enough. It's so easy to get around the central part of the city once you're there. Definitely moderately priced, but there are a million of those. I would love to see that parade.

I haven't stayed at the Hotel Isabel in years but I use to,it's not fancy but it's clean,central and economical.I always asked for a street side room with balcony,they're roomier than the interior rooms,noisier too though.

Another plug for Hotel Catedral...old but nice...one block from Zócalo as Brigitte said. Haven't used it for years, but it was my choice when down in that part of town.

A Suggestion:

This topic should probably be moved to the Southern States section of the Mexico - General category for people to use as a reference in the future?

The cathedral Hotel has been totally remodelled and is around 700 pesos including breakfast, I stayed there about 2 weeks ago and if you stay on the 7th floor it has a roof terrasse where you either have a view of the cathedral or of the city on the other side. Some rooms up there have a view some others do not but it is a nice floor if you want to sit outside and enjoy the view.
The parade is going to do their staging on the zocalo and go from there so it is very close to the start of the parade.
The casa Gonzalez is close to where the reviewing tribunes will be near the Angel. The price is similar to the Hotel Cathedral and it is a house or binch of houses from the 30´s with a patio. The place is very quiet and it is nice to be able to sit outside in the middle of greenery in Mexico.  It is a nice district close to the small mall full of antic stores close to amy restaurant and a nice area to walk around at night unlike Cntro which is deserted after dark. I stayed there with friends a couple of weeks ago again so it is pretty fresh in my memory.

Please check your information. Hampton Inn Centro Histórico was last seen at the intersection of Calles 5 de Febrero #24 and Calle República de Uruguay. It's about 3 blocks south of the Zócalo.

My vote, however, goes to the Hotel Catedral, which is a few blocks north of the Zócalo, on Calle Donceles. Also, 3-4 blocks from the Z.

If you want to be right on the route, consider the Holiday Inn Centro or the venerable Majestic Hotels. We have never stayed in those becuase of their cost and other factors.
We have not stayed in the Centro for several years, choosing the quieter areas of Colonia Roma Norte. However, that's not close to the parade route

Sorry my post was midleading. My map shows it one block from the Zocalo.  At $83 it looks good to me.
