PASSING ON AND PASSING IT ON Empty PASSING ON AND PASSING IT ON

Post by gringal Thu Dec 16, 2010 11:26 am

I had a cousin in Southern CA with whom I carried on a regular email correspondence for years. Then, I received no replies for weeks and assumed she went on vacation. Finally, I began writing "where are you" messages, with no reply and yesterday I invested in a long distance call to her. "Disconnected" message. My husband went on the Social Security site that registers deaths and found that she had died on Sept.7 of this year. Gulp. Shock and sadness. As far as I knew, she hadn't any illnesses, so this must have been sudden.

My point is that we should leave our email list with someone who can write a message to our correspondents' in the event of our demise. This would save some anxiety on the part of those who we ONLY stay in touch with on the net. If you send a letter to someone who is no longer with us, at least it comes back "deceased". My cousin's email was on yahoo and nothing bounced.

Yes, I'll miss her. And you are right.......give that password to somebody you trust. It should work for most everybody.

Some time ago I made a "notify" e-mail list and sent it to two people to use when I croak.

I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die ...

It's always hard to lose someone, especially if you are close to them... that is a tough way to find that out...
