Circulating two million uninsured cars
From today's INFORMADOR, an article which I found a bit confusing (maybe caused in the translation):
http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&hl=en&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dinformador%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3DVhk%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26channel%3Dsb&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=es&u=http://www.informador.com.mx/jalisco/2014/524880/6/circulan-dos-millones-de-autos-sin-seguro.htm&usg=ALkJrhitKoeM35tq-FzPdhx_b89UxMwLhw
Spanish version: http://www.informador.com.mx/jalisco/2014/524880/6/circulan-dos-millones-de-autos-sin-seguro.htm
About the only fact that I could hang my hat on was that only about one third of drivers in Jalisco actually have insurance.

That's probably about one third more than carried liablility before it became mandatory.

Or approximately the same numbers as in New Mexico Neil except the percentage of drunk drivers and low riders is much lower here.
C'mon down

Something good must be happening, as traffic deaths over the 2 Semanas in Jalisco were drastically down.
Maybe those roving breathilizer gangs?

Those roving DUI checkpoints do appear to be having a positive effect, and they don't care if you're a mayor's son with bodyguards,as was the case last week, or offer them thousands of pesos in mordida, you're going to el torito regardless, kudos to Jalisco for this public service.slainte39 wrote:Something good must be happening, as traffic deaths over the 2 Semanas in Jalisco were drastically down.

The Mayor of Toronto went down to Guad' for the closing of the Pan-Am games and to pick up some tips on "public service" in Mexico. Eh

Not being a "homer" but you are obviously referring to old statistics. The State of New Mexico has received national recognition for drastically lowering not only the rate of uninsured drivers but also DWI/DUI drivers. In the 10 years we have lived here, we have seen our insurance rates decline drastically because of these improvements.
Along these lines, there was an article in INFORMADOR about the first of Jalisco's DWI offenders losing their licenses but I question what difference that makes?

Re: Circulating two million uninsured cars
I'm surprised at how reasonable auto insurance is in Jalisco considering the large numbers of uninsured.
CG is right, NM really cleaned up the drunk driver and uninsured problem. Not to mention the fact that GDL alone has far more people than the entire state of NM.

¿So how much would crack cost in Guad', compared to what Ford would pay in Toronto?

Obviously the insurance companies are not paying out what they are taking in, or they are being subsidized by Pemex.

I don't know anything about crack but I have met a few here that are into the "Columbian marching dust" and they tell me it is about 1/5 of what they paid NOB and from what I have seen the mota is a fraction of what it is NOB. Thus I imagine Ford could get one heck of a deal on his crack. Maybe he'll retire lakeside soon enough......

Why would there be any connection between private auto insurance companies and Pemex?????
