Re: The Drones are coming...
I saw a crew setting one of those up just yesterday at the park by the lake, Parque Milagroso or whatever it's called. They were pulling it out of the van and placing it on the ground to open up the blades. When I realized what it was, I said, "No hay secretos en Chapala." They laughed. As I drove away, I regretted that I hadn't asked who hired them to send it up.

Several months ago, a friend looked out her window to find one in her back yard. It crossed to walls to invade her privacy. She never did get an acceptable answer for the intrusion.

Think about it - it wasn't all that many years ago that people had Radio Controlled planes crashing wherever and now we have drones with cameras that can be controlled from a smartphone!

They can also be controlled with a shotgun.

Re: The Drones are coming...
Actually I can think of a couple of electronic devices that could make it crash. Don't need a shotgun.
No noise, unit just crashes as remote control function is gone as you jam frequencies. Government unit probably uses some shared spread spectrum and would be much harder to jam. Hey the Iranians took over control of a very expensive US government drone and landed it. Now they are madly running creating new control systems as a result of the Iranians action. I bet a big Jacobs ladder (you know the monster sparking machine you see in many mad scientist movies) would drop the drone out of the sky by jamming a huge portion of radio bands. So many issues so little time.

Re: The Drones are coming...
Is there enough interest to form a group of drone/aerial photography enthusiasts to purchase and fly a unit? If interested, please PM me...

Kiri - do you speak Spanish? If so, I have a theory that there is already a group of locals and tapatios flying out of Chapala airport.
