Looking for a recommdndation for a dentist Chapala/Ajijic aea.

I would really appreciate input from people who have had actual experience with the dentist and not what their neighbor told them.

English is not necessary but would help.

What I need is pretty extensive (includes two implants) and expensive.

We are now in our 13th year here and have lived in Ajijic, before moving to Chapala. In all those years, we tried many dentists before finding the one who seems to be the very best in the area. He is Dr. Eloy Barragan, at #39 Bugambillias. It is at the entrance to Mirasol, on the lateral just west of the entrance. The sign says Chapala Dental. Appointments are required: 765-5584, and English is spoken.

I've been very happy with Dra Martha Medina Corona At Dental del Laogo, Constatucion #27A (a block E of Colon in the village, NW corner). 766-4503. Several crowns, a bridge and a couple of root canals. She's just finishing a crown this Saturday, total $2,500MXD.

Another vote for Dr. Barragan.
Over the years he has replaced an old bridge and silver fillings, put on veneers and crowned a couple of teeth. Most recently, he did a root canal and an implant. His work is excellent, his office modern with up-to-date equipment. He is also the most gentle dentist I have ever been to.

Another vote for MARTA. Actually about 20 votes, as that is about how many immediate family members trek to her office from the ages of 3 to 80, some of whom, live in the US, but schedule her services when they are here. This includes every type of dental work there is.
Have been with her almost since her day one and we are all happy and SMILING.        

Another vote for Dr. Eloy Barragan. Last week, I had a crown break. I was a new pt. for him, and he worked me in to examine it, cleaned it up (moisture had entered the base of the tooth--quite a mess), sealed it, and discussed treatment options. Thirty-five minute appointment cost $200MXN. Tomorrow, he will extract the remainder of the old tooth ($500MXN), and in eight weeks or so he will install a bridge. I chose not to have an implant because my sinus is too close, and I'd need to have a bone graft in order for an implant to work. Too much trouble for a 70 year old. Called my Wisconsin dentist, and he said that he could not have provided any better service.

I've   been going to Dr. Haro since 2004, no complaints, higher priced, but have been extremely satisfied with his service, and results.

I think the "bad" dentists in the Chapala area, is a pretty short list.

My wife tried Dental Express for some work.
Very bad experience, and she now goes to Dra Ana at Dr Haro's office.
I think the dentist at Dental Express was a consultant on "Marathon Man"   

That's unusual. We use Dental Express for everything and have had a few guests use them for extensive work. Never heard a complaint.

I've also heard complaints about Dental Express and offer my recommendation for Dr. Eloy Barragan. Best I've ever been to, anywhere.

We like Haro also!  

Our daughter came to visit a few years go and needed her wisdom teeth removed. We took her to Dental Express. The experience was so bad she is now afraid to go get her teeth cleaned NOB.

For the person (people?) who said that they have had an implant by Dr. Barragan..... did the Dr. do the implant or did he have someone come in from Guadalajara. Not that long ago he was not, himself, doing the implants. Just curious.

Dr. Barragan did my implant himself. However, my tooth broke and was not pulled. So he did a root canal and the implant went into my own root and not into the bone. I do not know if that makes a difference in whether he does it himself or not.

I went to the office of Dr. Eloy but didn't get to talk with him, I spoke with another dentist.

Office was very nice, however the prices were, comparatively over the top.

An implant was $10,000 and then to put a crown on the implant was another $10,000. This is in writing as was my request for the costs.

I will go back and try to talk to Dr. Eloy personally.

among several dentists that work there his wife is one who does root canals. i stick to my recommendation for all of them.

I highly recommend Dra Angelica Aldana @ Bugambilias #17 at entrance to Mirasol cell 045 331 351 7797 business 376 765 5364 e mail angelicaaldana1@yahoo.com In December 2013, I had cleaning, 2 extractions, 2 root canals, 1 surgery 3 bridges, 11 crowns performed and I was totally satisfied. The total price was around $4000 Canadian. I am making a special trip back from Canada to have 7 more crowns done this year. She speaks fluent English and her assistant is very qualified as well. She brought in a specialist from Guadalajara to perform the root canals.
