Yes, it was an awful tragedy! Lennon had just begun to have the peace and freedom he deserved, while still pursuing his passions! Taken too soon!

It was one of those events, like the Kennedy assassinations, the Challenger explosion, the death of Diana, etc. that evokes strong memories of were we were and the impact of first hearing of the event.
