CHOPSTICKS RESTAURANT NEWS:
For those who like Asian food beyond the ordinary and who haven't tried the new location for Chopsticks:
They moved downstairs in the "El Torito" shopping strip, into an enclosed space way back by the parking lot. Woo hoo. No stairs to climb, an enclosed restaurant space of their own and today, it was heated at lunch time.
We had potstickers done the right way, rice plates with chicken and tea. Under 200 pesos for both of us.
It's delicious, fresh and served with a smile. Opens at 11:30; closes at 4:30.
You can park in the parking lot or on the side street (if parking in front is it's usual crowded lot) since there is a back door as well as one opening onto the main corridor.
I hear there's great home made ice cream as well. Next time, I'll save some space.

Re: CHOPSTICKS RESTAURANT NEWS:
The new space is so much nicer. I've never liked that food court area upstairs so I'm really glad they moved.
The couple who run Chopstix are very sweet. I think his name is "Qwee" but I have no idea how it's spelled. The food is fresh and tasty, and when it's available, the home made ginger lemongrass ice cream will blow your mind it's so delicious. I wish I'd eaten there today instead of where I went.

One of my favorite places to eat. Clean, clean, clean! Consistant every single time. Everything is made fresh to order and there is a small but wonderful variety. They even offer tofu in lieu of chicken or pork! Betty, Quee and their boys are delightful and service is wonderful. You can get orders to go and their homemade ice cream is fabulous.

I haven't been there in a while, do they still have the same menu, daily specials and hours?

They're open 11:30-4:30. Yes, daily specials plus potstickers, noodle and rice bowls along with some soups. Probably the same menu, but so much nicer an environment.

Never eaten at Chopsticks but I was watching them clean the place this morning before opening up. I have seen US hospitals less clean than this place.

You have that right. It's spotless, and the kitchen area is visible to the diners. Try it; you'll like it.

Betty and Quee and very friendly people. It's a comfortable place to eat solo. Betty is at the Tuesday market where I bought her shrimp spring rolls, which were very good.

You are joking, right?
That food is so bad it defies description beyond "salt and grease" specials.

Re: CHOPSTICKS RESTAURANT NEWS:
When I hear about Perry's, I'm reminded of the old rock'nroll line: "Sometimes you gotta make up your mind", as in: is it gonna be fish 'n chips, Pizza or Asian or all of the above???
I'm waiting to try Perry's after he moves to a real restaurant space where the parking is easy. I tried Chopsticks when it was in the open area by the movie in the mall and didn't enjoy the experience, even though the food was good. After they moved downstairs to the place they're in, it's a pleasure. Part of the joy of eating out is the ambiance, at least for me. YMMV. Yep, its my money and I'm picky.

Re: CHOPSTICKS RESTAURANT NEWS:
Well gringal, MMDV, and just to be arbitrary today.
Besides the haute cuisine, gourmet style, excellent food he puts forth, part of the appeal for me at Perry's is the upscale interior design of the dining area.
The fact that he can prepare so many and varied items on his menu, is a testimony to his culinary expertise.
Now I know that limits some clientele that don't appreciate that extra touch of ambiance, but he has kept his prices in line with lesser establishments, for which he deserves kudos.
He deserves 3 or at least 2 Michelin stars IMO. ....and if you get to talk to Perry, it is the complete dining experience.
Now that is my short, synopsis review of the restaurant and maybe later, I will author a more complete review in collaboration
with zenwoodle.
Disclaimer....I haven't any financial interest in said establishment, except for the investment in
Have a good day gringal, at cocinart.

Re: CHOPSTICKS RESTAURANT NEWS:
Well, I had a mixed feelings brunch today, Slainte. The price of popularity is that the place, at a little after 11:30, was completely filled with seniors shouting at the top of their voices to the auditory pain level, all seemingly talking, screeching, booming at once. Several large groups.
Had a delicious brunch but couldn't wait to get OUTTA THERE.
Hope you soon enjoy a quiet meal in the upscale gourmet ambiance at Perry's.

Re: CHOPSTICKS RESTAURANT NEWS:
That's the problem with having a 2X1 cocktail hour at 11:30 AM. I just hope Perry doesn't feel obligated to do the same, but he closed on Sunday, so it won't happen then.

Hey, it's 0 for 0 today. They didn't even have that excuse. Maybe they're all just getting hard of hearing.

Sounds like the deaf old folks are ruining any chances of any star no matter how good the food is.

It's fine during the week. No noise problems when we go to lunch. Since it's only a block from our house, it's a favorite. Sunday: too many people.
