Good Pancho News
So happy to report that I visited With Pancho today and be is in the process of securing a location in the area of Riberas to be open in around 4 months. Additionally, he will have a second location out on the west end open in around a year! Woohoo, go Pancho!
Yesterday was his 48th birthday, if you see him wish him a Feliz Cumple.

It is good news but I will have to think 2x before I drive from La Canacinta to Riberas.
I any event I am trying to reduce our dependence on SL and Pancho.

So what's your alternative? Walmart?

The things I buy at SL and Panchos are mainly things that can be bought at Costco.

DaveP, sounded like his store #2 will be very close to you.

Very smart planning on his part. Open a location east of Ajijic, and one west of it. That way, your customer base is much larger. Many people east and west of Ajijic don't like driving into Ajijic Centro because of traffic and difficulty with parking.

By the time he opens his west store I will have rearranged my shopping. There is very little that I use that Ib8vhuuuuuuuu cannot get in other stores and a delivery from Costco is not a expensive as SL and Pancho markups. After delivery charges I save 3-400 pesos and the items are delivered to my door.

Re: Good Pancho News
For anyone that makes frequent or even infrequent trips to GDL, stick with the Costco stores. More selection, less cost, and you can pick the meat, which is excellent. For people that do not have vehicles, the other alternatives are OK, but I think LCS has occasional bus trips to Costco.
Super Lake and Pancho are good for those unusual food imports that many foreign home chefs like to have. Most Mexican homes of any stripe don't need them but they do like the imported prepared items, if they are affordable.

For anyone who doesn't already know this:
www.lakeside-ss.com has a website which allows you to fill a virtual "shopping cart" with Costco items. You order on Monday and it's delivered to your door on Wednesday. They post the time your order will be delivered. The fees are far less than it would cost you to drive to Costco, and you don't even need a Costco card. Nice folks; very reliable. I've been using them for months and am very happy with it.

I know it won't happen, but I'd love him to take over El Toro, which, IMHO, is a waste of space.
Re: Good Pancho News
Glad to hear Poncho's latest plans. For years I have shopped at SL buying mostly the Mexican brands (about the same price as Soriana) plus a few indulgences. It seems the current SL has fewer Mexican brands that I like and more high priced stuff I don't buy.
