I just got a great haircut! Almost had to convince the girl to cut it this way. Actually I did. It's always hilarious that she tries to inform me how to style my very fine hair, using techniques that I've been using since I was 15. I politely grabbed her arm and said, "I've lived with it all my life, I know how how to do my own hair!" with a smile of course. She said so many ladies ask her how. That's great if they're asking but I wasn't.

Hows come guys got off so dang easy? If they're trimmed, cleaned and smell good, they pass the mustard. They generally get better looking with age while us girls go south!!! That ain't right. We're the ones that have to look beautiful.

The girls get better looking with beers........bwhahahaha Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer Beer

Just kidding ladies.

The American Legion in Chapala has a lending Library too... and if you go out to Parque Cristiana's tennis courts, they also have books available. It's nice if you can leave one, but not necessary. Lizzy

Make salsa... yum, or sun dry, or slice them, sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and a bit of basil and broil until bubbly and golden. Mmm-mmm. L

I've heard some people have trouble growing them but I never did. I bought a pack of seeds at the hardware store - or Walmart, scruffed up the ground, planted the seeds and got a ton of tomatoes. Much better than the store bought. I don't have tomatoes right now but I bought an heirloom at the market on Tuesday and am going to try and grow the seeds. You may want to try a raised bed or starting them in a rectangular plastic box - this time of year things can get rot from the rain.

Bubba/Dawg should get together with you simpsca. I know he's tried everything he could think of to raise a decent tomato.

Did you raise yours here from seed? I've got two plants left of many. We tried growing them in hanging baskets. Some of my roma were smaller than cherry :( I started mine from seed as well and am doing sq ft gardening. Hubby built me a 36 or 38 sq ft raised bed and there's more where the tomatoes were transplanted to. Hoping to salvage them. My herbs are doing superb. I can grow carrots, serrano peppers did well as well as lettuce and spinach. My cucks & zucchini were eaten by white flies. The bellpepper and eggplant small. I was really disappointed. Strawberries are small too and have lots of plants right now. Letting them take over untill i figure out what to do.

We mostly grow Roses (enough to have 3 to 6 vases daily), we came from an area where roses were cost prohibitive (I’m sure this created our desire.) but have Bell pepper plants that do great. Even enough for our housekeeper.

Yes, I've raised a lot of things here from seed, including tomatoes. But I also had a compost pile and got a lot of new tomato starts from the compost pile. I can't think of anything that didn't grow here. We did have to put out wire cages at one time because some other critter was enjoying the produce. Right now I have a big herb garden and am raising ginger. I'll try to start my heirloom tomatoes soon.

And no Japanese beetles down here. I had roses up north but hated the Japanese beetles.

Tomatoes like loomy, high nitrogen, black soil...
I wuz going to post pictures of our crop but appears picture is to large

A good practice is to cover surface areas around plants ( mulch, lawn clippings, etc ) to prevent weeds and retain moisture.... each year turn surface mulch back into soil to loom

Adding Ash from your Fireplace to your soil in the off season also helps...

Water in the Mornings or in the Evenings don`t stree your plants by watering midday Very Happy

When I lived in Riberas del Pilar I saw something I'd never seen or thought of before. Someone planted tomatoes and instead of staking them to grow tall, hung them from baskets in a tree and let them grow downward. That's something I think I'll try.
