Cohetes today

Hi,
Just wondering if today (Wednesday) is a special day of the Fiesta Week - cohetes have been going almost steadily since 6 AM.

Every day is sponsored by a different group. With the number of cohetes today I would guess it is the construction workers as their business has been booming so they spend mucho dinero.

Is the albañil day today ot tomorrow.. I have been getting different answers from locals here so I would like to know..If it is today who is paying tomorrow?

My adopted grand daughter said today was albanil day her father works construction!

San Cohete???

do not worry about the cohetes, they will go on until San Andres on the 30th and then they will start on the third for the  novena of the Virgin of the Guadalupe. Not sure if there is something in between.. then you have the posadas that will start and then Christmas and then New Year and then the day of los Reyes and then  and then until Mardi Gras.. Lent should be quiet alI do not know about it here , in Chiapas they celebrate the various Fridays with cohetes as well..

Until today the number of the cohetes being fired into the air, was much below average for this 9 or so day festival, at least that's how it seemed to me in upper Ajijic. However today they seem to be wanting to catch up. I sure hope things quiet down a little so I can a little more sleep tonight, than last night.

No big deal though, there are so many great things about this community, that I can put up with more noise for a few more days. :)

Which is the last party night at the plaza? Friday or Saturday? Anyone know?

We're having no cohetes in SAT, BUT WE CAN SURE HEAR YOURS! I bet the albañiles paid to have extra gunpowder packed in for today. They're far too prosperous!

I sure noticed a lot more cohetes today. Guess I will turn off the hearing aids early and hope that the rain keeps those setting the fireworks off, inside :)

the last San Andres fiesta is on the 30th but Saturday is the inauguration of AMLO so who knows if there is a party for that one too.. Saturday is the first and is a paid holidays..

With all the wind, rain, and multiple power outages, I'm still a bit surprised that the bands are still playing on the plaza. 10:30pm, gusting to 30mph, temps down to 55 (so what's that wind chill? Below 40, I think)
