Walmart - Fact or Fiction?
My housekeeper tells me Walmart is not allowing anyone 60 or older in. Is this true?

If that were true, the Walmart in Chapala would be a ghost town.

I was in there 2 days ago and most of the gringos I saw were over 60.

The Telcel store in Centro Laguna Mall was not accepting over 60 last week. Apparently older people are not hip enough to be seen walking around glued to smartphones.

There were some stores, not sure about Walmart, or in what area, that were setting aside some early hours for over 60 people.

Maybe you look 39, but I still get asked for ID in the bars. Â

Re: Walmart - Fact or Fiction?
Over 60 and went to WM yesterday afternoon. No one wiped the cart down but meh. I asked the guy manning the disinfectant table if all employees inside were masked and he said yes.
Had to use the ATM and waited a significant amount of time for the guy in front of me to go from one machine to the other before giving up. Finally, my turn and suddenly the Bimbo delivery guy who was in line behind me LEAPED ahead of me to the machine just as I was approaching it. Arrrgghh I waited some more. He mumbled gracias as he passed me when he left. I mumbled something appropriate into my mask back.
Shopping went well, very few people in store but had to play dodge the customer a couple times in the aisles.
Finally the dreaded checkout. Was happy to see checkers masked and Plexiglas shields, although too small, had been installed. As I was chucking all my scanned items back into the cart I took a closer look at the niña checker who was a mere 4 ft from me and noticed her nose was hanging out of her mask.

There's a guy at the door offering hand sanitizer. Â If you haven't a mask he'll sell you one. Logic would dictate they should like having older customers.

At the Walmart in Mezcales, they had an amp set up outside the doors playing an endless loop saying no one over 60, only one member of a family, no children. I had my grey hair wrapped in a scarf, my mask on, and my glasses, feeling quite incognito, and no one stopped me from entering or asked to see ID.

Walmart has changed a few things but it is still fiction.

It would be interesting to see them try and stop someone. Forget the fact that it's against the law. There are a lot of us who are not old and frail.

You do realize, Cedros, that Mudgirl is stating what is happening at the Walmart in Nayarit?

You line up outside. Only so many allowed in the store at the same time. They took my temperature. They were playing a recording in Spanish.

No. I know Mezcales north of PV well but.....I thought she was referring to some Lakeside place.

Yes, I was referring to the one north of Nuevo Vallarta. I was wondering if the big supermarkets, Costco, Home Depots, are following directives from head office, rather than each making their own rules.

It seems like a bit of both. Own rules and rules from head office. You are never sure what to expect.
