Cashier cheating at Soriana?
I don't know how to explain this. I did some groceries at Soriana a couple of hours ago, and when I checked my bill at home, I noticed two items - onions and unbranded tortillas- that I certainly did not purchase. Now please don't be telling me to check every item; sometimes one just doesn't think of that or can avoid the pressure of the lineup behind. The difference in the total amounts to 23 pesos, which is almost not noticeable.
My suspicion is she was adding things that she could take out of inventory later. The onion was 'per piece', not by weight, and the tortillas were simply 40g and not weighed. I'm well aware of many years of both WalMart and Soriana doing incorrect pricing, or giving incorrect change, but I haven't yet seen this kind of thing.

I am thinking how desperate a person would need to be to risk a decent job to “steal” items like onions and tortillas piecemeal to put together an order.

Or you got charged for a couple of items that belonged to the person behind you. They sometimes don´t handle the separation of customers and their purchases well.

I'd suspect that it's what slainte suggests. It would be weird to add one onion and some tortillas for a grand total of 23 pesos if it was a cashier who was really trying to scam people. And how would she "add things that she could take out of inventory later"? Everything has to be scanned, doesn't it? I guess they do punch in the code for fruits and veggies, but hard to believe she'd bother to do that for one onion- she'd do better to punch in the code for asparagus or red peppers, that are actually expensive.
I usually check my receipts after I get through the check-out, moving out of the way of the next person in line, but still close to the check-out so if something seems amiss, I ca deal with it right there and then.

The items were not at the top or the bottom of the bill, but floating separately near the middle. It's easy to punch in a code when you are an experienced cashier. And you are asking me a question I don't know the answer to. Your guess is as good as mine. Yet there sits the proof.

I'm with Bob.... the onion and tortillas were actually something else that was purchased but rung up incorrectly.
