Swimming pool Empty Swimming pool

Post by jgriff Fri May 21, 2021 9:16 pm

Hola

I've Googled it searched this forum and the other forum and everything is many years old.
I am trying to estimate how much a pool is going to cost me before I buy a house.
Anybody have any idea who I could contact to get estimate? It's going to be 3mx5mx1.5m.
I'm not sure if I should go with the preformed ones or have it done in concrete.

TIA

Friends just had a pool put in around that size and it was about 20K USD.

Thanks Bob.

I am thinking of doing a fiberglass pool. I believe yours is concrete and tile ? Have you heard anything negative or positive about fiberglass pools.
I'm in Canada right now so I won't be able to meet with Jurgen.

Yes, mine is concrete and tile. I don't know anyone with a fiberglass pool so can't comment on that. If you are near the lake you may have to worry about it lifting from the water table, especially if you have to empty it.

Good point about near the lake but the house I am looking at is up in the back of San Nicolas.
Thanks again for your help.

I had a buddy in Coquitlam BC who put in a fiberglass pool and it lifted even when full so do some research on them.

Not to divert from the subject matter, but are you looking at Lomas de Chapala subdivision?  If so, wanted to get your opinion about that subdivision or just San Nicolas in general.  Saw a YouTuber series on building a house there and loved the area/views.

I am in San Nicholas. Love it here. Super friendly people and very helpful. I like it because it is the real Mexico village feeling.
I have a few friends that live in the subdivision around the golf course. It's a beautiful area

OK, so you're in SN-proper (ie the non-subdivision areas).  Yes, SN seems the quaint MX village, and close enough to the local amenities.  When I was there last year, visited Mezcala (east of Chapala).  Just like SN, but quite a distance.   Vista del Lago, the golf-course subdivision is nice/secure, but a bit pricey...I think.  Lomas is just west of it, relatively undeveloped.  Looking at possibly building there, like the YouTuber.

Howz the SN infrastructure...utilities all-municipal, internet available?

Any gotchas?

Howz the pool-building going?
