The 100 peso Sin Limites option lasts for 15 days. Includes 1.3GB of data.
You can easily see the different options by dialing *133#.

Re: Where to buy a telcel amiga card
This is the second request that I have received today for the Telcel Amigo Plan. The first person wanted to buy it while still in Canada so that it would be working and functional when they landed in PV. HUGE difference in price between buying at Oxxo (aka boots on the ground in Mexico) or pre-buying in Canada. That's why I included both options since sm1mx did not give location.

Re: Where to buy a telcel amiga card
I want to use the cell phone in US but it is not connected to a telcel plan. We only use it over wifi but May need data in the US. I don’t know if the amiga card would connect to T-Mobile in the US without a data plan here.

Could need data more than 15 days in the US.

Sorry, but I don't understand this. A 100 peso SinLimites paquete that lasts for 15 days costs 100 pesos regardless of whether you purchase it in Mexico or by doing it online or by calling *133# from Canada or the US. The only difference is that if you are using data while out of Mexico, you won't get the amount of GBs that it shows, because data is charged by the minute when you are on roaming.

In that case, you don't need to buy a longer-lasting paquete- it is more cost effective to buy the length of paquete you require for calling and texting (your stated 2 weeks for 100 pesos) and additionally  "Amigo Internet", which just gives you data. (Like Sin Limites, there are various options)
But you will not get the GBs listed when you are on data roaming.
As I pointed out in a previous post, most places you will be in the US will have Wifi you can hook up to, so you won't use up your Amigo data. You'll only need the Mexican data if you are out and about, on a road trip, or staying in an area where there is no Wifi connection. Just make sure to turn off data roaming after you need to use it, so any apps you have aren't using it up, automatically sending you ads or info that your phone is receiving through the roaming data connection.

Re: Where to buy a telcel amiga card
Right. But I can’t install the Uber app without them sending me a text code to put in and I can’t get it the the wifi phone as it has no active cell number. So a text won’t come through. I can try to go to telcel and see if they understand what I need in the US for 2 1/2 weeks. We have 2 cell phones but only one has data. When we need the second phone we will get a data plan but don’t need it here. Right now we only need 1 phone with data here and the other we can use apps through wifi. But Uber needs an active phone number.

Re: Where to buy a telcel amiga card
No you don't understand. Uber will send you a text on the phone number you register with them which will come through regardless of whether you are connected through someone's Wifi or through your data connection.
Having your phone connected to your own data or connected through someone else's Wifi is immaterial. The phone number Uber will send a text to is the one you have registered with them, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the phone number, or lack of one, of the person or place whose Wifi you are connected to.

Re: Where to buy a telcel amiga card
I’ll have to check it out. The Uber number on file is the one with my data plan phone but I am trading it in and not sure everything will work data or wifi wise on the new phone until I get back to telcel in Mx. everything is supposed to be stored in the cloud and can be switched over but I just had a relative with a big business in the US who accidentally lost his phone and everything in the cloud was not transferred to his replacement phone. A real hassle. So I don’t know if the new phone will work when purchased NOB with data which I will need.

Re: Where to buy a telcel amiga card
Can't you just transfer the old SIM card to the new phone? That's what most people do when they get a new phone, unless they are getting a new number.
Regardless of whether everything transfers over to your new phone or not, it shouldn't matter at all. If the Uber app doesn't transfer, just reinstall it on your new phone. Your Uber account should still be there in the app. Even if you were uninstalling and reinstalling the app in your present phone, because it was glitching, that doesn't wipe out your accounts with those apps.
I think you are making it more complicated than it is, because you don't understand how these things work.

I just got off the phone with the person who purchased their Telcel sim card and phone number (a Mexico City number) in Canada from the website that I provided. He just renewed for 3 months with that site and it cost him $150.00 Canadian DOLLARS. Geez Louise! That's highway robbery!

That's insane. Then obviously that website shouldn't be used to recharge. It sounds like it's a third party scam website.
Recharging can either be done by calling *133# or on the official Telcel website. I don't know why anyone would use some other website.

The phone's serial number is immaterial. People transfer SIMs between phones all the time.
You are concerning yourself with things that don't matter.

Glad to hear that. Looking forward to getting the new phone as my iphone 7 will no longer download the new software versions so i can see the hand writing on the wall. It is will be much cheaper NOB than here which would have duty and 16% IVA tax on it.

Re: Where to buy a telcel amiga card
If all else fails, when you get there waltz into a Walmart or Best Buy and get a plan they sell/promote. For example you 'could' get (minimum of) 3 months of Mint Mobile. They are a reseller of T-Mobile. For $15 a month/$45 total they'll put in a new Sim card... keep you old one for back home...., unlimited talk and text and 4GB of data per month. There are others... I just know about this one as switched from T-Mobile to Mint for a cheaper plan.
I submit this as a fall-back if nothing else seems to work after you reach the US....

Re: Where to buy a telcel amiga card
I use an app called "Mobile Recharge" to add minutes or purchase plans from TelCel. It can be done from anywhere in the world. They charge a very minimal ($211.00 pesos for the 30 day "$200.00" peso Amigo plan) so an $11.00 peso fee.
