Looking for Manuel and Geraldo former working at Isla Cozumel restaurant

We went to Isla Cozumel restaurant today on Chapala malecon and both Manuel and Geraldo no longer work there?? New owner. Does anyone know if they are working at a different restaurant? We will miss them.

Just an FYI: I have been in contact with Manuel and he says they are NOT working at Letra CH. He assured me he would let me know as soon as they land somewhere else and once he does, I will post an update.

GRACIAS!! I wonder why they left?? They had been at Cozumels for years.

According to Manuel, the new owner announced he was going to keep their tips until the end of each week and then he would decide how to divvy them up. Manuel & Geraldo did NOT agree to that, so they quit.

Wow. Sometimes tips are all put in a cookie jar and then split. I don’t know how someone would divvy them up?? When we go one would serve us and then the other would serve the next people that come trading off tables. Maybe some parties are larger than others but usually it would work out as it has in the past many years. Then there’s accountability at the end of the 6 days they are open. How to keep track of that?? Bummer. They lost 2 of the best servers. We never had to ask for anything. They were there constantly with everything they knew we would like.

I hope the new owner will reconsider the tip situation and have Manuel and Geraldo return. We never had to ask for anything and they were constantly checking on us and they speak very good English. This last visit this week we were basically ignored after we got our drink. We had to flag the server for everything. Even had to ask for a menu to order. Food good as usual but service almost nil. No one speaks English which I understand as we are in México and we can communicate with our somewhat limited Spanish but being old!! and have a hard time with preterite and imperfect verbs difficult for an old brain but we try. We’ll see. Let us know where Manuel and Geraldo go.

Good news! Manuel interviewed with Peter at Go Bistro and starts there on Tuesday. Go Bistro's win, Cozumel's loss.

Great. Isn’t Peter only open in the evenings. Limited hours??
