NEW SPEED LIMITS - Be Careful

There are new Speed Limits painted in the roadway coming downhill past the Libriamento plaza. They are 40 kmh.

There are new Speed Limits painted in the roadway on the Carretera from the Libriamento intersection at Walmart thru La Floresta. They are 40 kmh.

There are also new Ciclopista signs painted in the right lane of the roadway heading West from the Libriamento thru La Floresta as well as No Parking signs.

I have heard that they intend to enforce these.

Considering the amount of speeding I've seen.....this should augment those policemens' salaries considerably.

La Floresta in the north south roads posted a short time ago 20KM/H
signs. Note Kilometers not MPH. 20KM is 13MPH!! Pretty slow. Obviously
they want people to stop using La Floresta as a shortcut from lower Ajijic.

25mph always was the speed limit ...there was 2 or 3 signs that were hid by foliage... one was by Gossips..I think it is aimed at weekenders as they have passed me on all sides or it felt that way while I was driving 40 kph..I am wondering about east of Walmart through Rebaris to Chapala.. haven't seen a speed sign in that area

Most people drove between 65 - 70 kph in the section between La Floresta and the Libriamento going East and they still passed on the right. Not very bright.

If you are heading east towards Chapala there is a speed sign right before Sunrise restaurant that says max speed is 70kms I think that is way too fast even past Chula Vista.

Dawg does not believe these to be new speed limits, simply new speed limit notifications. This is a good thing in my opinion as there is a tendency among many to drive rather rapidly in this urban zone and that is dangerous for locals. I am aware of several terrible accidents resulting in deaths locally over the past eleven years and then there is the local habit of running away after you have killed someone. Stay within posted speed limits until you get to the autopista and then stomp on the accelerator I say. Going too slow on the autopista makes you a target.

Does that speed limit include those that are blowing past me on the right????

Yep and it's illegal to pass on the right. With these new slower speed limits, I suspect more will be passing on the right because they're so impatient.
