Centro near the main st....All of the real action seems to be heading toward the Lienzo Charro...it's just wild! Been an exciting day.

Someone came around a couple of weeks ago trying to recruit my husband to help at the polls...He looked like he was going to cry.
It sounded like a blast to me and I would have done it in a heartbeat, he just wanted to be out of the whole deal.
It's good to see the town so excited about something.

I understand that there is a concern about rioting if Neito wins, which some of the exit polls are calling that he did win. Possibly why the police are locked and loaded?

Huerta won in Chapala.
Pri is winning for now for President of Mexico but it is still preliminary.

IFE (INSTITUTO FEDERAL ELECTORAL) emphasizes that actual counting for the final tally won't begin until July 4 and all reports until then are merely "preliminary." Presently, the spread between Nieto and Obrador has shrunk from 11 to 4 percentage points.

Good article. I liked # 2 where you need a voter ID card. That would keep dead people and people who can't vote from voting.

Ni modo,it's amazing to me that so many Mexicans could forget about 70+ years of absolute corruption by the PRI or that ones vote can be bought for a couple sacks of cement or a dispensa that wont last a week, maybe people do get the government they deserve.
At least I don't feel as totally depressed as I did when my fellow citizens elected W the second time.
PS:This is just chisme but my wife and some of our neighbors are complaining that the casilla was making it very hard to vote for any party but the PRI in the govenors race, not sure exactly how they did it but that's what I'm hearing.

"All politics is local." - former US House Speaker Tip O'Neil.

I've been thinking a lot about that phrase lately, and how it may (or may not....what do I know) relate to this election. I don't think I ever really understood it until now.

"Nothing changes if nothing changes"

At least we don't need to worry about the drug cartels any more. PRI takes the bribes and looks the other way, as they did for generations.

Sounds better than a bevy of headless corpses.

Like many others, I've had my fill of the grim consequences of the failed "War on Drugs."

Not a bribe......it's a campaign contribution or a consulting fee.

...Not so sure that's gonna work this time. The cartels are not as concentrated as they were...more chickens to herd this time around.

They will back one or two and help take things over again........it could get very messy for some of the weaker cartels in the near future.
