But you wouldn't rule out buying a bad used car here?

Why not?

Yes, please tell us, John, I just have to know. Especially as some of the products including cars sold in the US are manufactured here in Mexico. Very Happy

Perhaps because of all the cobblestone streets. Funny story to tell; Do any of you remember on talk radio “Car Talk”, the two brothers, really great mechanics that would answer your questions about your car problems. You would explain the problem and in a very funny process they would, most of the time, resolve your issue.

Well someone called in from where we resided and stated I’m from so-and-so and even before he could tell the brothers what the problem was they blurted out, “Buy a new car.” Yes our road conditions were really that bad and apparently they knew about them. We all had a really good laugh. Very Happy

This means out of 69,824,601 cars produced; Mexico produced 2,680,037. For easy mental & visual reference; out of about 70 million cars, about 3 million were produced in Mexico, according to these statistics.

Their really going to get their ass in ultra high gear to go from 2,680,000 cars to the US production of 8,650,000 cars. Maybe in the next 10 years they'll have a shot at it.

Does anyone know car models are produced here?

went to the UPS office at the Guad airport ....GREAT English speaking guy behind the counter spent 3 1/2 hours helping customs straighten out the mess THEY created ..... he downloaded the pay pal receipt that proved I had payed , a product description , and some forms they needed that they already had ....If you have an overdue package from UPS , I highly recommend that you pay them a visit before customs returns your package back to the sender
by the time I got home I received a notice that my package would be delivered tomorrow

Just glad you got your gear. So, the lesson is, re UPS, you just may have to go to the airport. That being said, why not have anything sent to you go through a Guad Airport office for pickup.
Apparently, wether it's UPS, Fedex, DPL, or whatever, you will know that the $ stops there.
Let's face it, as soon as it's cleared customs, and you hand it off to a 2nd or 3rd party for delivery, it can get really f*kd up quick. My advice. Pick up your S**T at the airport in person

Customs was the boogieman here NOT THE CARRIERS

Don't you mean DHL? Besides I would never use anyone except UPS or FedEx.

The only place you would ever want to use DHL would be Cuba. No alternatives. They are notoriously BAD. Strange, considering ze are German.

Mexico City Aduana uses DHL to deliver car import stickers to the States. Mine went from Mexico City to somewhere in the SE USA (can't remember where) then it was sent to Quito, Ecuador. Eventually it was returned to Mexico, back to the SE USA then to my mailing address in the NW. Only took a couple of weeks to go on a two day trip. Typical DHL!
