Re: Kid Food Memories
I still eat Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. That was my food of choice when I was poor in California in the 60's. Used to be able to get it on sale for 5 for a dollar. Now I mix in some Sambal Oelek in it & also add that to my deviled eggs along w/mayo, celery & onion.

I had so many dry, nasty tortiere pies, I hated them. When I finally had a good one, it was a revelation.shirley wrote:Sucre a creme, tourtiere, ragout....and real milk (not powdered skim like at our house) at Memere's.

Once again, I can help out the Helper Dude in that department. First you need the ever so special spices, then you need a French Canadian Friend, or transplant to Quebec, and presto, excellent tourtiere. We have done a few which turned out very well.
Merry Christmas.

Ah, but it was the Quebecois family members that produced the so-awful tortiere...

Ahhhh, but it was the Swiss transplant to Quebec who taught me how to do the ever so good tourtiere.
