GIVE A LITTLE, GIVE A LOT ~ TIME TO HELP OTHERS?

Would you have some time to help the School for the Deaf & Children with Special Needs? Specifically, we are asking for volunteers willing to serve on our Board starting March 1. Without new officers, the continued viability of this 34 year old organization is seriously threatened.

Our volunteers assist the officers, but we always need more people especially with our fund-raising activities such as Casi Nuevo Thrift Shop, Behind the Walls Home Tours, Book Sales, Fashion Auction and other events. The work of the Board goes on year round, with some months lighter or heavier than others. Full-time residency is not necessarily a requirement. Maybe you can partner up with a full-time resident and both volunteer 1/2 time!

Please consider giving of your time and talent to help run this organization. Please call Cece Girling (766-3964 or cecgirling2@yahoo.ca) to indicate your interest; she would also be happy to answer any questions. The annual meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Panino Restaurant, just east of SuperLake on the Carretera. Everyone is welcome as we need an infusion of new energy. Our website at www.lakesideschoolforthedeaf.org gives complete information about this very worthwhile organization which helps about 100 deaf and special needs children of all ages to have a brighter future.

bump - This is an extremely important organization that helps not only School for the Deaf with it's proceeds, it also donates to 3 or 4 other organizations too. They run the Casi Nuevo Thrift Shop on the left in Riberas across from the 7-11 store. You can either fonate or place items there on Consignment. They take 30% - you receive 70%.

They need help badly. My neighbor and good friend is the Treasurer and does a mountain of work.

[font=Comic Sans Ms][b]SCHOOL FOR DEAF & CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS - UPDATE. We are very pleased and fortunate that several wonderful people have stepped up and are willing to serve on our Board. However, we need just ONE more person to be our Recording Secretary - attend and take minutes at the Board meetings (maybe every 2 months) and send them around by email to the Board members. Could someone please do this? Full-time residency is not a requirement - you can phone in for the meetings.

Also, a reminder that the Annual General Meeting is this Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Panino's Restaurant. Everyone is welcome to attend!
