Jesus these are real weapons! My sister gave all of hers away because too many people in her house cut themselves...They would be great against any intruders.

Thanks, Artsnob. Maybe I can find them here first.

Hahaha, Brigitte! It's true, they would be lethal weapons. I think dull knives are more dangerous than sharp ones though, I may report back differently later on tho.

We really don't have a kitchen store here, do we???

Still curious what Artsnob paid. I like a good knife, but I have a price ceiling, too.

Trailrunner

You may change your mind after you cut yourself a few times. I cut myself with one of these and boy do they go through meat easily"They are great knives so I hope you find some.

Hahaha, Brigitte, you're probably right.

The thing is, I'm tired of trying to keep my Henkels sharp! I'm no good with the stick and my knife sharpener carnecero Guillermo is in Joco. I want something that will hold an edge.

Not if you use one to cut frozen meat, cut into a bone or drop on a hard surface.

That's right, they're fragile. I think I would use it sparingly, mostly for veg chopping. I don't cook meat/bones but dropping it is a real possibility. They are not expensive tho. Here is the set I'd like on Amazon, problem is they won't ship to MX:

Just came from Sears at Galerias. No ceramic knives; in fact, very small selection of knives at all. All the painted-bright-coloured Microban type; I have a few, like them except for the orange breadknife.

As usual, Liverpool has a much better selection of stuff at that mall. They had two ceramic chef's knives: $549 and $759. Could not tell the difference because of the packaging being in the way, and non-descriptive. Not a brand name I know.

HG:

To my knowledge, this is probably the best known brand: http://kyoceraadvancedceramics.com/
Certainly not inexpensive but if one watches closely NOB, you can sometimes find them at a reasonable price on sale.

Ah, I believe one of them was a Santoku type, now that I see your link. Thanks. And that price seems reasonable, looking at the prices of the ones I saw today. That's what I like for slicing, dicing, mincing, chopping. A higher lift.

If you have them shipped to my daughter's place in Canada, I'll bring them back when I return early July. Seems to be $7.99 shipping plus $1.99 per lb.
