a friend bought an "elephant table" in Guanajuato last week and it broke into a million pieces on the plane home .... she wants me to bring her another when I go NOB ......it's made of painted plaster and measures 14 " high and the "table" that sits on it's back is 6 1/2 " by 8'
I don't want to go to Guanajuato so has anyone seen one lakeside ?

Yes, I believe there is a pottery store by the Sunset Restaurant on the caraterra that has those. I have also seen those same ones at several retailers in Canada. Probably made in China......

Why are there elephant tables in Mexico anyway? She could probably get one from Pier One Imports back home.

If you were to take a tour of the shops in both Tlaquepaque and Tonala, you would notice that the African or Asian look is very popular right now for decorating. This look can fit in quite well with the contemporary decor so popular with Mexicans.
